INNOVATION/QHSE

Health and Safety

We place Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) standards at the core of our business. This is demonstrated through detailed site risk assessments, careful planning for the job in hand, the rigorous training of our operatives and the innovative technology and equipment we use on-site.

We aim to make the risk of accidents and injury as low as possible through arming new members of staff with extensive health and safety training before arriving on-site for the first time. For existing employees, we deliver regular refresher training courses to ensure that their knowledge is always up-to-date and at the forefront of their minds.

Furthermore, we’re accredited to the British Standard OHSAS ISO45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series).

Leading the way through innovation Innovative service delivery

At UKSS, we use an innovative cloud-based CRM system with live reporting, so our clients can keep up-to-date with how their job is progressing. GPS tracking is in place, so we can tell which sites our operatives are working on and observe how long they are on site for.

Crucially, we provide our clients with verified proof of delivery once the work is completed – this is done at an operative level. Using a tablet, our staff have the capability to take before and after photographs of each job they complete and gain electronic sign off from the client by way of approval. The system gives us complete visibility and control back at Headquarters.

Our transparent online management and communication process keeps our clients fully-informed and provides peace of mind that each job will be carried out to high standards.

Leading the way through innovation Innovative equipment

The range of quality machinery and innovative products that we use allows us not only to provide a thorough clean (including areas that are difficult to reach) but also has a direct impact on our carbon footprint and the safety of our operatives.

For example, we use MEWPs and BMUs to clean windows at height, or those that are obstructed in some way, as well as the very latest water-fed pole (reach and wash) systems to increase speed and efficiency.

With that said, we’re often able to avoid the use of potentially dangerous ladders – this is just one way that we keep our operatives safe on site.

How we’re helping the environment

We’re conscious that we have an essential role to play in the protection of the environment, particularly in relation to excessive water consumption, fuel emissions and how we effectively handle waste water. We’re certified to ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Standard) and have implemented several eco-friendly practices across many of our business processes.

Our water-fed pole systems contain purified water, but they can also be used with rainwater too if the client can collect this for us to use on-site. This allows us to conserve water where possible. Additionally, we use eco-friendly cleaning agents that contain a minimal amount of chemicals.

Our only real carbon footprint is through our fleet of vehicles that we need to transport equipment and operatives to and from sites. One way that we are addressing this is through carefully organising our work schedule in such a way to eliminate unnecessary travel and, in turn, reduce fuel consumption and emissions. We do this through our paperless, cloud-based management system, which gives us a clear overview of all UKSS projects and the stage each one is at.
